Professor Boulin Hu
is a painter and architect.
He was born in Vietnam
as an overseas Chinese. In 1964, he went to Taiwan and studied at the National
Cheng Kung University. After finishing a B.S. Degree in Architecture, he
studied in Zurich, Switzerland for a Diploma in Architecture at the ETH-Z and
Fine Art at the F+F Institute for Experimental Art. He has worked in Zurich,
Munich, Taiwan, Vienna and San Francisco. From1986~1994 he taught as Instructor
in the Institute of Urban Design and Master Class Professor Wilhelm Holzbauer at
the University of Applied Art in Vienna for seven years. Since 1994 he has
taught at the Chung Yuan Christian University in Taiwan. Professor Hu was
Chairman of the Department of Interior Design (from 2001-2005) and Dean of the
College of Design (from 2005-2009).
His research fields are mainly on creativity works including architecture,
community revitalization projects through participation, public art, childrens
theatre and ink paintings. He has held more than 20 solo art exhibitions, designed
more than 10 buildings, set up community projects, public art projects and has
written about 20 books.
He has gained many
awards such as the 4th Taipei Cultural Prize, the New School Movement Prize from
the Ministry of Education, the Taipei City Urban Design Prize,
The 2nd Public Art Prize
of the Best Educational Participation and the 2nd Tao Yuan City Landscape Prize
for Community Participation.
